This is the most asked question till now and instead of answering it to everyone we are here explaining it for once and all.
Basically when you upload any video on YouTube then it runs some algorithm to find if you have copied someone else creation. This is called Automatic detection. So if it finds some original creation then Automatic Copyright claims will hit your video. Now you don’t need to panic here because generally all Bollywood songs are released by any of these Big Music companies like T-Series, Zee Music, YRF Music, Tips, etc. And these companies are promoting Cover song culture so they will not delete your video from your YouTube channel. So if your video has copyright claims from them then you don’t need to worry about it because they will just share the revenue with you from the YouTube earning your video gathers.
YouTube also gives their users an ability to do Manual Detection. Now based on manual detection user has the ability to delete your video and give you a strike which is a reason to worry about. Because if total no. of strikes goes to 3 then your YouTube channel will be deleted forever. So its always a good practice to give proper credits to Original Artist and ask them for permission to use their content on your video.
Let us consider some scenarios:
First Scenario :
I upload a cover version of song – Channa Mereya which is owned by T-Series on my YouTube channel. As soon as uploading finishes, I already got a Copyright Claim from T-Series. This is automatic detection and I don’t need to worry about it because the claim came from T-Series and I know they will not delete my video because they promote cover songs.
Second Scenario :
There is one artist named XYZ. He uploaded his original composition on YouTube. Now after sometime I uploaded same composition but with some modification(still i don’t own this composition) and I didn’t give him credit neither did i ask for his permission. After some day XYZ get to know about it and he gave me a Copyright Claim to delete my video and here I received 1 Strike. After 2-3 days, Video will be deleted from my channel. This is where I need to worry about because if two other strikes comes then my channel will be deleted forever.
Most important :
Don’t believe that changing scale up/down or making unplugged or changing music is assured way of not getting Copyright Strike. Because in some cases user has got strikes. Because user also can manually report your video.
